Alex Ivanov
Alex Ivanov started dancing at the age of six in Bulgaria. Having graduated from Art School (Music & Dance), Alex moved to the USA and immediately discovered his love for Ballroom Dancing.
Alex has been a professional ballroom dancer for over 20 years, winning multiple competitions and top teacher awards. He continues to enjoy teaching and training students of all levels in all 4 major ballroom styles. He currently resides in the greater Portland, Maine area.
Donyelle Werner
Donyelle Werner started dancing at the age of 4 in her mother’s ballet studio in Damariscotta, Maine. Donyelle has been a competitive dancer for over 15 years with multiple wins including SF Open, Embassy Ballroom Championships & City Lights Ball. She was the runner up at the US Open ballroom dance championships in the American Rhythm Division in 2009.
Kate Marchessault
Kate Marchessault has been on the faculty of Casco Bay Movers since moving to Maine in 2000. Kate trained extensively at Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, Walnut Hill School for Performing Arts, and with masters such as Adrienne Hawkins, Fred Benjamin, Milton Myers, Lynn Simonson, Sam Kurkjian, Coleman/Freedman, and Jeannette Neill. Performance credits include Adrienne Hawkin’s Impulse Dance Company, Perla Furr’s Choreographer’s Group, Ram Island Dance Company, Art Moves Dance Company, and Rhythm Factor Dance Company. She has taught, choreographed, and performed in New York, Brazil, Boston, and throughout northern New England. In addition to sharing her love for dance at Casco Bay Movers, Kate teaches jazz dance at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, teaches modern dance at Southern Maine Community College, and serves as Artistic Director of Portland Youth Dance Company.
Sergei Slussky
Sergei is excited to participate in Dancing with the Dentists event. He is the member of US chapter ofImperial Society of Teachers of Dance and the owner of Aquarius Ballroom Dance Studios (ABDS) and Aquarius Happiness Social Club (AHSC). ABDS and AHSC are part of Aquarius New Age Playground, conglomerate of health and wellness services, designed to lead Humankind to eternal youth and, ultimately, to physical and spiritual immortality. The graduate of University of Metaphysics and the member of US Transhumanist Party, Sergei believes old age could be defeated as just another disease. Ballroom dancing develops balance and coordination, physical, mental, emotional, and social abilities – it is an instrumental tool to be used on the road to eternity.
